This autumn, Hanamurasaki is pleased to introduce a new immersive retreat program designed for curious, globally minded guests with a passion for Japanese food culture, crafts, and regional traditions.

Your hosts are Kohei Yamada, sixth-generation proprietor of Hanamurasaki (founded over 120 years ago), and Hannah Kirshner, writer and food stylist based between New York and Yamanaka Onsen.

This retreat is not simply a travel package, but rather a cultural dialogue and journey into a deeper sense of richness. While staying at Hanamurasaki, guests will experience food culture workshops at Hannah’s private kitchen studio Mokkei, meet local artisans and producers, and gain intimate access to the world of Yamanaka crafts such as lacquerware.

Uncover Japan’s lesser-known regional resources and discover a new form of travel—beyond superficial luxury, toward meaningful experiences that nourish body and spirit.
